Politburo Designates August 8–9 as Official Days of Reduced Extraction

The People’s Legislature has adopted Resolution H.5495, designating August 8 and 9, 2026 as the Commonwealth Soviet’s annual sales tax holiday — a 48-hour suspension of the standard 6.25% contribution on most retail purchases under $2,500.

Commissar Carole A. Fiola of Fall River filed the resolution on June 11, 2026. The House Committee on Rules processed, recommended, and discharged it the same day, with the full chamber adopting it before the afternoon session concluded. The People’s Legislature, when sufficiently motivated, moves with impressive efficiency.

The beneficiaries are the consuming masses, who will have two days to acquire clothing, household goods, and electronics without rendering the customary tithe to the collective. The cost — measured in foregone revenue — falls on the Commonwealth’s general fund, an arrangement that has repeated itself with reliable annual regularity since 2004.
